A.E
Brown & Son was established in Turriff, Aberdeenshire in 1957 by Alex E. Brown.
The original shop was a small traditional butchers where the emphasis was on quality
products and friendly staff.
In
September 1987, the business, then being run by son Tom Brown, was expanding and
took the decision to move to larger and more modern premises at 14 Main Street.
The shop design and style introduced then set A.E. Brown & Son in good stead
for the strict standards required today.
By
1990 the trend for prepared produce was expanding and the business started to
introduce new product lines and concepts on a regular basis. The
success of these new ideas and products during 1990 lead A.E. Brown & Son to
enter their first competition which resulted in a bronze award. Since that time
a further 102 awards for product development, innovation, quality and shop
displays have been awarded to the business.
These
awards have included the presentation in 1992 of the "Verstegan Trophy" by Egon
Ronay for runner up in the best new product category, six gold medals for new
products entered in the 1997 "Make it with Meat" competition and two gold and
three silver medals from the "Slavakto International Awards" in Holland.
Today,
the business, run by John Brown, is in it's third generation and is still
as adventurous as ever. May 2000 saw the creation of "J.B.'s Original Steak and
Chocolate Sausages", a product which has received television, radio and press
coverage, not only in the UK, but also from across the Atlantic in Canada.
The development and introduction of new products will always be a key element
of A.E. Brown & Son and never forgotten will be aim established by Alex in
1957
Quality Products and Friendly Service Every Time.
